Empowering Rural Women Entrepreneurs in Karakalpakstan

In the Republic of Karakalpakstan, within the framework of the “Rural Entrepreneurship Development — Phase 2” project, the World Bank has allocated grant funds totaling 120,000 US dollars to support women’s business initiatives.

For the first stage of Phase 2, a total of 120,000 dollars has been allocated, with 40,000 dollars distributed to each of the Muynak, Kanlykul, and Bozatau districts. These funds will be used to finance the business projects of more than 100 women entrepreneurs, with each participant receiving financial support tailored to the scale and needs of her business plan.

The allocated funds will contribute to the development of key sectors in the region, including tailoring, livestock farming, greenhouse operations, bakery production, as well as the provision of medical and educational services to the population. As part of the overall 600,000-dollar grant program planned for Phase 2, four additional stages are expected to be implemented in the future. These efforts will lead to the creation of hundreds of new jobs in rural areas and improve the overall well-being of the population.
